About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Elementary Teacher to join our team at TA Edison Elementary School. As an Elementary Teacher, you will play a critical role in facilitating student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society. You will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum to prepare students for success in a global society
  • Assess student abilities and develop instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Plan and employ a variety of instruction/learning strategies and activities that are compatible with the physical facility and serve the needs and capabilities of the students
  • Manage the behavior of learners in the classroom and participate in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school
  • Communicate instructional expectations, student progress, and lack of progress to students and parents
  • Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation
  • Participate in professional growth and development activities, including staff meetings and in-service and staff development activities
  • Assist in the documentation of student progress by efficiently maintaining and submitting appropriate records and reports
  • Ensure that the classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and generally conducive to learning

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Meets the employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education
  • Kansas teaching certificate in area of instructional responsibility
  • English as a Second Language endorsement preferred or be committed to obtaining that endorsement
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:

  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Experience with technology integration in the classroom
  • Ability to speak multiple languages
