Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Walgreens. As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and providing exceptional patient care. This is a full-time, remote opportunity with a competitive salary of $27/hour and a range of benefits to support your career growth and well-being.

Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the operation of the pharmacy, adhering to state, federal, and company guidelines.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Director, Staff Pharmacist, and Senior Supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and medication data, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medication, verifying medication is correct, and checking for potential interactions.
  • Help pharmacists in planning and maintaining workflow, reporting and addressing prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty, and adhering to company policies and procedures regarding medication errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Responsible for accurately recording all related sales on the assigned sales register, collecting and handling cash as required, and taking patients to the OTC entrance when possible to assist with finding products.
  • Handle calls that do not require individual attention from the pharmacist, including those to doctors, process (rectify and resubmit) manual claims for third-party program medication services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Director.
  • Assist and support the Pharmacy Division on stock management activities, such as ordering, unloading, checking, and storing shipments of medications, maintaining knowledge of company asset protection procedures, and documenting claims for stockroom overages (stock received, but not charged), deficiencies (stock charged, but not received), order errors, or damaged products, including Rx medications.
  • May assist pharmacists in directing clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine tests from patients and other clinical services as required, and assist pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare facilities, and outside suppliers.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Administrator and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local healthcare community, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers, by clinical supplier enumeration and participation in health gatherings, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other discussions for improving learning experiences.
  • Assist with internal and external maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Office is stocked with sufficient supplies, clean, neat, and methodical in condition and appearance.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with colleagues.
  • Complete unique tasks and other assignments as assigned.

Preparation and Self-Improvement

  • Acquire and maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the assigned PTCB training program or potentially state-required certification/enrollment. However, acquire PTCB or ExCPT certification as a condition of advancement to senior technician.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs mentioned by Administrator and gain continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and expertise in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and advancements.

Fundamental Capabilities

  • Must be conversant in reading, writing, and communicating in English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Expect ability to work an adaptable schedule, including night and weekend hours.

Favored Capabilities

  • Favor a half-year of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prioritize having earlier work experience with Walgreens.
  • Lean toward having good numeracy skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Favor having good computer skills.
  • Incline toward having knowledge of store stock control.
  • Favor having PTCB or ExCPT certification.
