Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced full stack data science manager to lead our data science team in developing and implementing data-driven solutions that drive business growth and improve customer experiences. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data science, team management, and communication, with a proven track record of delivering high-impact projects and driving business results.

Key Responsibilities

As a full stack data science manager at Walgreens, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading internal and off-shore teams to deliver sales metrics and improve methods as needed
  • Using a test and learn approach or building predictive models to measure marketing performance, including marketing campaigns and loyalty program offers
  • Integrating measurement results with business intelligence to inform marketing teams and present meaningful business insights to senior management teams
  • Collaborating with project teams and business partners to ensure quality work and on-time delivery
  • Designing, developing, and implementing methods, processes, and systems for the consolidation and analysis of various data sets, including structured and unstructured data
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and serving as a point of development for complex data analysis and problem-solving
  • Proactively resolving issues, including timely resolution and identification of opportunities for remediation
  • Creating software programs, algorithms, dashboards, information tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate, and evaluate datasets
  • Staying up-to-date with new analytical methods and technologies
  • Collaborating with functional business units and driving business solutions and direction
  • Building credibility with colleagues while managing expectations and ensuring frequent, continuous, and effective communication with team members and stakeholders
  • Developing and mentoring employees through onboarding, open communication, training, development opportunities, and performance management processes

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in quantitative or computing functions, or a graduate degree in a quantitative, computing, or engineering discipline and at least 2 years of experience in a quantitative or computing function
  • Experience with analytical and statistical software such as SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, and/or others to perform data analysis and interpretation
  • Deep knowledge of SQL
  • Deep knowledge of open-source data science and statistical packages such as Python, R, Spark, etc.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decision-making in the workplace
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (in and out of state)

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, computer science, business analytics, etc.) or an MBA
  • Testing and teaching experience or other statistical modeling experience
  • Strong knowledge of advanced analytical tools and languages for analyzing large datasets from multiple data sources
