Job Summary

As a software engineer II in our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that will enable Walmart to stay ahead of the competition. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software applications that will be used by our customers and internal stakeholders. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality software products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software applications using a variety of programming languages and technologies
  • Work independently with minimal supervision to deliver high-quality software products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Participate in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to develop a high-level design
  • Investigate business and production issues and develop solutions to resolve them
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall quality of the codebase

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++
  • Experience with database management systems such as SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience with object-oriented design tools and principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies such as Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with distributed storage systems such as Hadoop or Spark
  • Experience with agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience with test-driven development and continuous integration
