We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Volunteer Safety Chat Facilitator to join our dedicated team at blithequark. As a Safety Chat Facilitator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our service users, while also providing a warm and welcoming introduction to our community. This is a unique opportunity to positively impact lives and make a real difference in the lives of those who have left a religion.Key Responsibilities
As a Volunteer Safety Chat Facilitator, your key responsibilities will include:- Conducting informal online video chats with individuals who have expressed interest in attending our events or accessing our services
- Explaining how our services work and answering any questions the applicant may have
- Ensuring that our services are safe and suitable for the individual, and vice versa
- Providing a warm and welcoming introduction to our community, and helping individuals feel comfortable and supported
- Engaging in ongoing training and development to ensure that you are equipped to provide the best possible support to our service users
Why this Role Matters
As a Safety Chat Facilitator, you will be the first point of contact for many of our service users, and may be the first person they have spoken to about leaving their faith. This role requires empathy, understanding, and a deep commitment to creating a safe and inclusive community. You will have the opportunity to positively impact lives, and help individuals feel seen, heard, and valued.Essential Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of working with vulnerable individuals or groups
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong emotional intelligence and empathy
- Basic IT skills and familiarity with online video conferencing platforms
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
While not essential, the following qualifications and experience would be highly desirable:- Experience of working in a support or advocacy role
- Knowledge of the issues faced by apostates and ex-religious individuals
- Experience of facilitating group discussions or workshops
- Training in areas such as mental health, trauma, or conflict resolution
