About the Role: IT Infrastructure Engineer

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer at American Airlines, you'll play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our IT infrastructure, ensuring that our systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with our business goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, networks, and databases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that IT infrastructure aligns with business objectives and supports our global operations
  • Provide technical expertise and support for IT infrastructure projects, including cloud migrations, system upgrades, and new technology implementations
  • Develop and maintain documentation for IT infrastructure systems, including diagrams, manuals, and technical guides
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for IT infrastructure systems and ensure that issues are resolved promptly and efficiently
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in IT infrastructure, and make recommendations for improvements and innovations
  • Collaborate with other teams, including cybersecurity, data analytics, and application development, to ensure that IT infrastructure supports business objectives and is aligned with industry best practices

Essential Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale IT systems
  • Strong technical skills in areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, and artificial intelligence
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • A master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale IT systems
  • Certifications in areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, or data analytics
  • Experience with IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL
  • Strong understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies, with the ability to make recommendations for innovations and improvements
