This position will operate on a remote, freelance basis. Candidates must reside in the U.S. or Canada, or in countries within a few hours of the EST time zone. How-To Geek is looking for a freelance Copy Editor with a sharp eye for detail and a deep love for technology. If you stay up to date on the latest in PCs, mobile devices, smart home tech, streaming platforms, and everything in between, we want to hear from you! About Us : How-To Geek is a trusted destination for practical tech advice, how-tos, tutorials, and reviews. Our mission is to help people make sense of technology, whether that’s choosing the right hardware, troubleshooting issues, or getting more from their favorite apps and devices. What You’ll Do : • Copy edit and proofread a wide range of articles, including how-tos, explainers, reviews, and news • Schedule and prepare edited articles for publication in CMS • Ensure articles are clear, accurate, and accessible to a broad tech audience • Work with writers and editors to maintain high content standards, format guidelines and enforce our editorial style What We’re Looking For : • Professional experience copy editing digital content (tech specific experience required) • Strong knowledge across consumer tech categories • Comfortable working in a complex CMS • Familiar with AP style (or similar) and able to adapt to an in-house guide • Part-time or full-time availability on a freelance basis • Based in the U.S., Canada, or a time zone close to EST Application Requirements : • CV • Cover Letter (tell us why you’d be a good fit!) • Links to your portfolio or previous work on a tech site (tech content mandatory) The hiring team will get back to you as soon as possible if we think you'd make a solid addition to the team.
