About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Online Fundamentals of Communication Adjunct Faculty to teach asynchronous online courses for our students. As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, while also enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid teaching role that allows you to balance your time between our remote office and home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate course objectives, requirements, and expectations to students using weekly announcements.
  • Facilitate interactive and dynamic online discussions, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Utilize appropriate technologies and online platforms to deliver course content and engage students effectively.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, papers, and class work to guide student learning and success.
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with students through online channels, such as email and discussion forums.
  • Ensure adherence to course syllabus, academic policies, and established curriculum guidelines.
  • Use innovative teaching strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and understanding of communication principles.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, including grading assignments, exams, and other assessments in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members and participate in departmental meetings or training sessions as required.
  • Provide support and guidance to students, addressing their academic needs and concerns promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant data as per CCBC policies.
  • Adhere to college policies, procedures, and ethical standards, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Communication, Communication Studies, Speech Communication, Speech, or a closely related field.
  • A Master's degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in Communication, Communication Studies, Speech Communication, Speech, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years prior teaching experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience in facilitating online learning classes (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates who possess the following:

  • Online learning training and certification.
  • Experience with online learning platforms and technologies.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
