About the Role

As a Second Grade Elementary Teacher at Odyssey Charter School, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our students. You will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies to elementary students, with a focus on language immersion and curriculum development. Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively teach English Language Arts and Social Studies to elementary students, with a focus on language immersion and curriculum development
  • Collaborate with partner teachers, staff, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Develop and implement engaging and differentiated lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of our students
  • Assess student progress and provide regular reports to parents and guardians
  • Diagnose learning disabilities and seek the assistance of district specialists as required
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including student progress and lesson plans
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language immersion and curriculum development

Essential Qualifications

  • A valid Delaware Teaching License and Certificate in the required content area, in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
  • Successful completion of Praxis II exams
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken
  • Experience teaching in elementary grades, preferably in an immersion or foreign language program
  • Experience teaching students with diverse needs and abilities
  • A global citizenship and collaborative mindset, with a commitment to language immersion and cultural exchange

Preferred Qualifications

  • Second-grade teaching experience, preferably in a language immersion program
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation
  • Knowledge of language acquisition techniques and strategies
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Proficiency in a second language, preferably Greek
