Role Overview

The Online Crisis Counselor will play a vital role in our crisis chat and text services, providing immediate support and intervention to individuals in emotional distress. Key Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals in distress through our Crisis Chat and Text services
• Conduct thorough assessments to determine the appropriate means of intervention and support
• Complete risk assessments, safety planning, de-escalation, and follow-up with chat visitors as needed
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of chat and text visitors
• Provide crisis intervention counseling and support to individuals in crisis, including those who are suicidal or experiencing mental health emergencies
• Collaborate with emergency responders and other services as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in crisis
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all crisis chats and texts, including risk assessments, safety plans, and follow-up actions
• Meet productivity standards, including completing a minimum of 1.5 chats or texts per hour
• Participate in ongoing quality evaluation and improvement processes to ensure the highest standards of care and support

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as counseling, social work, or mental health
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in mental health services, preferably in crisis intervention or suicide prevention
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals in crisis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly

• Experience working in a crisis chat or text service, or other related field
