Maintenance Technician
**Overview:**
The University of Alaska's HAARP program is seeking experienced maintenance technicians to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks, including operating heavy equipment, road maintenance, and snow removal. These temporary Local 6070 union positions in Gakona, Alaska may result in permanent positions. **Responsibilities:**
* Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks, including operating heavy equipment, road maintenance, and snow removal
* Assist with power plant maintenance and operations, including preflight startup checklist, start procedures and operations, power to array, and shutdown
* Use heavy equipment, including forklifts, graders, and brush mowers
* Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
* Interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
* Research, analyze, and resolve parts discrepancies, including purchases, shipments, and delivery
**Qualifications:**
* Apprentice level or other equivalent certification appropriate to the specific trade
* Minimum of three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
