About the Role:

We’re looking for a Director, People Ops Infrastructure & Services to join our People team. You’ll build up the systems, policies, and services that power our people experience owning the foundations that make Vercel a fast, compliant, and world-class place to work.

This role leads the combined functions of People Systems (HRIS) and People Services (employee support and compliance). You’ll drive how we design, implement, and scale the infrastructure behind every moment in the employee lifecycle from onboarding to answering employee questions to policy enablement.

We move extremely fast and value shipping. In a role like this, you have to find the balance of keeping up with the pace of the business while building thoughtful processes at scale.

Ideally, you’re based within commuting distance of one of our offices in San Francisco or New York City, which would include in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. We are also open to remote candidates in the US.

If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. What You Will Do:

  • Own the strategy and execution of global People systems and partner with the People Systems leader for everything from HRIS to data governance, ensuring scalability, audit compliance, integration, and high-quality data.
  • Lead the design and delivery of People Ops services, including onboarding infrastructure, employee support, and policy administration, ensuring speed, accuracy, and care.
  • Drive operational excellence through automation and AI, exploring innovative ways to enhance employee self-service and reduce manual work.
  • Design and implement data and system processes that balance compliance with Vercel’s culture of autonomy and speed.
  • Develop a unified analytics strategy for the People team, building dashboards, insights, and reporting that drive business and talent decisions.
  • Coach and evolve the team, fostering ownership, curiosity, and clarity in how systems and services scale together.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and IT to ensure cohesive governance across people data, policies, and technology.

About You:

  • 10+ years of experience across HR Operations, HRIS, or People Services, including 5+ years leading high-performing global teams.
  • Proven success designing and scaling people systems, workflows, and policies across multiple countries and functions.
  • Deep understanding of HCM systems and data architecture, with experience integrating or implementing platforms such as Workday, Rippling, or similar.
  • Strong analytical background, that drives you to translate data into insights that drive strategic decisions.
  • Experience leading in high-growth, scaling, or pre-IPO environments; ability to design for both flexibility and rigor.
  • Excellent written communication; able to distill complex processes into clear, transparent, actionable guidance.
  • Deep alignment with Vercel’s People philosophy: high agency, operational clarity, and momentum over perfection.

Bonus If You:

  • Led or supported HCM implementation projects, particularly Workday.
  • Experience operating in both pre-IPO and public company environments.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted knowledge or support systems for employee services.
  • Background in data privacy, global compliance, or audit preparation.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $188,000.00 – $259,000.00. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location, and the total package includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
