Editorial Specialist - Tudum (Series & Films)

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-03
Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. The Opportunity Do you have extensive experience creating compelling editorial content for genre films and television series? Are you that person who is equally happy watching The Witcher or Wednesday? Have you seen every episode of every season of the One Piece anime? And do you maybe also shop for One Piece collectibles? Netflix's Publishing organization is looking for an Editorial Specialist to support its robust Genre & Action team - someone who can bring both sharp editorial instincts and a deep understanding of what drives fan engagement across spectacle, fantasy, and action films and series. Reporting to an Editorial Manager, the Editorial Specialist will execute and help shape editorial strategy around Netflix's epic slate of genre and action titles. (Think: The Old Guard 2, Love, Death + Robots, and Stranger Things.) You'll need to be a deeply knowledgeable content creator who produces sparkling copy - and who brings strong editorial judgment, clear communication, and ownership to fan-forward campaigns. You'll conduct interviews, pitch ideas and create bold, impactful content ranging from Everything You Need to Know primers, Cast Guides and Status Updates. This is a highly collaborative position and requires excellent communication, organization and judgment. Based in Los Angeles or New York, this position requires three days a week of work in the office. Responsibilities Title Research: Comprehensively review Netflix internal materials - scripts, production schedules - to gain context and background that will inform your interviews and reporting. Idea Generation: Actively participate in title brainstorm sessions by pitching innovative, creative and industry-leading ideas. Strong Talent Relations: You thoroughly prep for interviews and can make anyone feel at ease by steering thoughtful, fun and comfortable conversations that generate the type of killer anecdotes that elevate our coverage. Content Creation: Compile and edit interviews and write stories with the aim of creating conversation by engaging and informing readers. You'll also repackage and rewrite articles, as needed, depending on the intended audience (awards voters vs fans, for example). Contribute to content plans and work with the curation team on finding assets for news beats. Work closely with the Editorial Manager and cross-functional partners across marketing, comms and social to ensure editorial coverage supports broader campaign goals. Getting to Know Fans: Fans are obsessed with our titles and you're obsessed with them. You balance fan instincts with editorial rigor, using consumer insights and cultural trends to inform content that's both resonant and smart. Monitor Content Performance After publication of your articles, work with SEO and Growth and Insights teams to optimize content, be it tweaking SEO copy or adding subheads to articles to capitalize on fan interest. QUALIFICATIONS What we need from you: • 8+ years of editorial experience or comparable writing/editing and strategy work, specializing in entertainment and pop culture. • Extensive background covering entertainment across film and television • A strong writer first and foremost, ideally with editing experience. • A seasoned interviewer who feels comfortable leading a conversation, and maintains a high level of emotional intelligence while doing so. • Creative self-starter who is detail-oriented and thinks beyond the obvious to tell engaging stories that capture fans' attention. • Can navigate multiple deadlines and work quickly. • Own and deliver on multiple high-impact editorial assignments simultaneously, ensuring alignment with broader campaign timelines and campaign strategy. • Demonstrate ability to receive and incorporate feedback, operate with self-direction, and thrive in a high-accountability environment. • A voracious reader and listener who can tackle absorbing scripts, transcripts, audio files - and can retain pertinent details and context over the full life cycle of a campaign. • Highly organized, with experience in various programs and tools (CMS, Google Suite, etc). • Can communicate clearly and concisely with many cross-functional partners in many different disciplines. • Solid judgment to ensure stories align with the Publishing team's editorial mission. • Comfortable working across short and mid-form content across a variety of deadlines. • Understanding of SEO optimization. • Collaborative and curious partner to the editorial and cross-functional team. • Familiarity with Google search insights to inform coverage. • Flexible, open and forthright communicator who is comfortable receiving and providing real-time feedback. • Passionate about entertainment and pop culture.
