Museum Preparator Principal

Prepare and install museum exhibitions, including handling and mounting of artwork, lighting and display design, and construction of exhibit elements.
Maintain and repair existing exhibits and display cases, ensuring they are in top condition for public viewing.
Collaborate with curators and other museum staff to plan and execute exhibitions, ensuring that the vision and educational goals of each exhibit are met.
Monitor environmental conditions within the museum to ensure the preservation and protection of the collections.
Assist in the safe transportation of artwork and artifacts, both within the museum and for loans to other institutions.
Conduct routine inspections of museum objects and exhibits, reporting any damage or deterioration to the appropriate staff.
Manage the inventory of supplies and materials necessary for exhibit preparation and maintenance.
Train and supervise junior preparators and volunteers, providing guidance and support in the execution of their duties.
Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and techniques for exhibit preparation and conservation.
Adhere to museum policies and procedures, including safety protocols, in all aspects of the job.
Collaborate with other departments within the museum, such as education and marketing, to ensure a cohesive and impactful visitor experience.
Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for museum visitors, answering questions and providing information about exhibits and collections.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the museum positively in all interactions with colleagues, visitors, and the public.
