About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Data Entry Operator to join our Clinical Laboratory team on a part-time basis, working evening shifts. As a Data Entry Operator at blithequark, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of patient specimens for diagnostic and treatment purposes. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify the identification of patient specimens and requests for tests, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Prepare and accession samples for send-out testing to various locations, maintaining precise records and following established protocols.
• Report critical values to medical staff, ensuring timely and effective communication.
• Sort specimens with appropriate labeling and identification for distribution to designated laboratories for testing, maintaining a high level of organization and efficiency.
• Perform pertinent data entry and retrieval functions using automated and/or manual systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Centrifuge and decant specimens, following established procedures and protocols.
• Maintain laboratory records in accordance with established procedures and protocols, including the generation, separation, sorting, and distribution of reports.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and distribute supplies as needed, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
• Follow laboratory safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and needs.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• General office skills, including typing, filing, and phone etiquette.
• General computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
• General organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standard precautions.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

• An Associate's Degree in Business or a related field.
• 1-2 years of related experience in data entry, coding, billing, registration, or insurance.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to utilize hospital and laboratory computer systems for registration and/or accessioning.
