Experienced Remote Call Center Customer Service Representative – Medicaid Member Support Specialist for Iowa Residents

About the Role
As a Remote Call Center Customer Service Representative, you will act as the initial point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates. You will provide one-to-one telephone contact with applicants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in customer service roles, ensuring that all interactions are handled with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to resolving issues efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accurately documenting enrollment requests and status changes
- Entering application and enrollment information into a web-based computer system for customers wishing to apply for the program over the telephone
- Maintaining technical and program policy proficiency in the Iowa Family Care rules/guidelines and other related program policies
- Providing clear, complete, accurate, and objective information based on a full understanding of program requirements
- Working collaboratively with internal teams to resolve complex issues and ensure seamless customer experiences
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Responding to customer inquiries via phone, email, or other communication channels
- Resolving customer complaints and concerns in a professional and courteous manner
- Providing timely and accurate information to customers regarding program eligibility, benefits, and services
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions and transactions
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A basic understanding of a call center environment in a customer service role and quality monitoring processes
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, beneficiaries, and co-workers
- Ability to problem-solve through analysis and ongoing feedback
- Achieve results through knowledge, empathy, and commitment
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
- High School diploma or GED
- Background check required
- Must reside within 1 hour driving distance from Des Moines, IA
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous experience in a call center or customer service environment
- Knowledge of Medicaid programs and policies
- Excellent typing and grammar skills
- Ability to navigate a computer and utilize software applications
- Ability to understand and utilize policy and procedure manuals
