About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Remote Call Center Customer Service Representative to join our team in supporting Medicaid members in the State of Iowa. As a key member of our customer service team, you will serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates. Your primary responsibility will be to provide one-to-one telephone contact with applicants, beneficiaries, and enrollees, addressing their questions, concerns, and needs in a professional, courteous, and empathetic manner.

Your duties will include:

  • Acting as the initial point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates
  • Providing one-to-one telephone contact with applicants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in customer service roles
  • Accurately documenting enrollment requests and status changes
  • Entering application and enrollment information into a web-based computer system for customers wishing to apply for the program over the telephone
  • Maintaining technical and program policy proficiency in the Iowa Family Care rules/guidelines and other related program policies
  • Providing clear, complete, accurate, and objective information based on a full understanding of program requirements

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

In this role, you will be expected to work independently in a remote setting, with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility. You will be required to:

  • Work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) with a set schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Participate in paid training, which will be provided by blithequark, to ensure you have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in your role
  • Utilize equipment provided by blithequark, which will be picked up from our Des Moines, IA office
  • Maintain reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace that meets blithequark's requirements
  • Adhere to a break and lunch schedule, as well as other policies and procedures established by blithequark

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of a call center environment in a customer service role and quality monitoring processes
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, beneficiaries, and co-workers
  • Ability to problem-solve through analysis and ongoing feedback
  • Achieve results through knowledge, empathy, and commitment
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Background check required
  • Must reside within 1 hour driving distance from Des Moines, IA

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a call center environment
  • Excellent typing and grammar skills
  • Ability to navigate a computer and utilize software applications
  • Ability to understand and utilize policy and procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette
