Job Overview
As a Patient Account Analyst II at blithequark, you will play a vital role in our Central Business Office (CBO) Customer Service team, responsible for performing a variety of registration, billing, follow-up, and collection functions for all payers, including self-pay. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our billing operations, as well as providing exceptional customer service to our patients and their families. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of registration, billing, follow-up, and collection functions for all payers, including self-pay, to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient accounts
- Verify insurance benefits and contact patients for necessary information pertaining to registration, billing, and collection
- Process financial assistance applications and resolve inquiries received pertaining to patient accounts in a professional and courteous manner
- Post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts, and review accounts for outside collection or legal authorization
- Work with internal departments to obtain information for external requests, including refunds, and act as a liaison to outside vendors
- Review debits, credits, refunds, bad debt, and contractual allowances for accuracy and process as applicable
- Reconcile electronic payment remittances and lockbox reconciliation and reporting to ensure accurate and efficient billing operations
- Know and follow all billing regulations and corporate compliance plans to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices
- Provide feedback to management on issues that impede timeliness or quality of billing and work with management to resolve
- Always show respect and value for our customers and project an image of professionalism in all interactions
- Independently review assigned reports to ensure goals and deadlines are met, and assist management with training new staff as needed
- Obtain prior authorization for scheduled services and perform other duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to accurately and independently solve problems, with a minimum score of 80% on a basic skills test
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and internal stakeholders
- Previous experience with computers and office applications, including inputting and retrieving information from a computer, operating a calculator, fax machine, and copier
- Ability to move about the office and between workstations, and occasionally lift, move, and carry moderately heavy materials
- Commitment to exceptional customer service, with a strong focus on patient satisfaction and experience
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, with the ability to manage large volumes of work and quickly learn and retain information
- At least 1 year of experience in medical registration, billing, customer service, or collection, with a strong understanding of healthcare billing operations and regulations
- Team player with a supportive attitude towards our department and blithequark's mission and values
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as healthcare administration, business, or communications
- Certification in medical billing or coding, such as CPC or CPC-H
- Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems (PMS)
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OIG guidelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex billing issues
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
