About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Call Center Customer Service Representative to join our team, providing Medicaid member support and enrollment services to the State of Iowa. As the initial point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service and support. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the initial point of contact for inquiries from potential and existing Iowa Medicaid Program recipients and affiliates
  • Providing one-to-one telephone contact with applicants, beneficiaries, and enrollees in customer service roles
  • Accurately documenting enrollment requests and status changes
  • Entering application and enrollment information into a web-based computer system for customers wishing to apply for the program over the telephone
  • Maintaining technical and program policy proficiency in the Iowa Family Care rules/guidelines and other related program policies
  • Providing clear, complete, accurate, and objective information based on a full understanding of program requirements

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

In this role, you will be expected to work in a fast-paced call center environment, handling a high volume of customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner. You will be required to:

  • Work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to resolve customer complaints and issues
  • Adhere to a break and lunch schedule, ensuring that customer service levels are maintained at all times

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A basic understanding of a call center environment in a customer service role and quality monitoring processes
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, beneficiaries, and co-workers
  • Ability to problem solve through analysis and ongoing feedback
  • Achieve results through knowledge, empathy, and commitment
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Background check required
  • Must reside within 1 hour driving distance from Des Moines, IA

  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a call center environment
