<strong>Description<br><br></strong><strong> Duties Description <br><br></strong>Candidate will be required to perform necessary functions for the Ray Brook Office buildings and grounds.<br><br><strong>Such Duties Will Include<br><br></strong><ul><li> Daily cleaning of building offices and bathrooms including: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping ,cleaning and sanitizing.</li><li> Daily / weekly garbage and recycling receptacle emptying.</li><li> Operation of a variety of hand / power tools and motorized equipment, including self propelled and stationary machinery.</li><li> Ensure that all motorized equipment is in good working condition.</li><li> Assist in snow removal including operation of shovels, salter, plows, snowblower and sweeper.</li><li> Year round grounds maintenance including mowing, weed whacking, raking and trimming.</li><li> General grounds and maintenance assignments including, cleaning, painting, moving of office equipment, small repairs, and equipment upkeep.</li><li> Staff the Ray Brook office mail loading dock to receive deliveries and daily mail.</li><li> Assist with vehicle pool cleaning, issuance and movement to repair shops.</li><li> Keep written records of work performed and materials / labor used.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong> Minimum Qualifications <br><br></strong>Candidates must be at least 16 years of age, and have a valid driver’s license.<br><br><strong>Additional Comments<br><br></strong>This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.<br><br>Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.<br><br>Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.<br><br>Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.<br><br>Must be able to work in remote areas.<br><br>Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.<br><br>Overtime may be required.<br><br>Weekends and holidays may be required.<br><br>Must be available for emergency response.<br><br>Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.<br><br>Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.<br><br>The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
