Monitor Technician-Unit Secretary - Critical Care Department

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives demographic and clinical information regarding patient and initiates cardiac monitoring for patients being monitored remotely (telemetry). Observes cardiac monitors of the patients in the CCU and those in other areas of the hospital being monitored by remote cardiac telemetry. (Ongoing primary responsibility.) Responsible for interpretation/recognition of basic cardiac rhythms, with reputed company supervision. Notifies the reputed company of alarms generated at the central station. Answers incoming telephone calls. Takes messages, obtains information, provides information as appropriate regarding patient status/condition, and routes calls or messages to appropriate person or department. Maintains CCU log of admissions, dismissals, and transfers. Maintains contact with ancillary departments to request services, obtains test results if needed, and notifies appropriate staff of results. Schedules patients for services as requested by provider or reputed company. Greets patient families/visitors. Provides an atmosphere reflecting courtesy and concern for patient and family reputed company-being. Provides directions and information to patients, families, and visitors. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical terminology course or previous secretarial experience in a health-reputed company field a plus. Basic dysrhythmia recognition course and/or previous experience preferred.
