About the position
Responsibilities
• Assist pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the state
board of pharmacy
• Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and
regulations
• Work daily with Leadership to ensure the right medications are put in the
right packets
• Run automated machinery required to pre-sort and package medications
• Fill exception trays with appropriate medication
• Transition Amazon Pharmacy orders through different workflow stages from
initial dispense through quality control
• Count and fill prescription vials and affix labels on bulk prescription items
• Pack and ship completed orders including printing and affixing appropriate
labels on dispenser, shipping boxes
• Sort and triage the right boxes to ship at the right time
• Aid the distribution manager and distribution pharmacists with receiving,
shipping, counting, and packing
• Clean, and help maintain, equipment and work areas
• Package medications for dispensing and for delivery
• Work a flexible schedule - shifts will possibly start and end outside of
normal business hours
• Tasks performed may include billing, data entry, obtaining prescriptions and
refills,
processing denials, transfers and inbound/outbound calls.
• Communicate with patients, providers, pharmacies and insurance companies by
telephone and email to obtain prescriptions, take refill requests and resolve
billing issues/questions.
• Enter patients and order information into the pharmacy systems. Establish and
maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual
patients.
• Process and submit prescription insurance claims for our customers along with
resolving insurance problems and patient issues that may result from incorrect
or incomplete information, therapy changes and pharmacy or shipping errors.
• Keeping patients informed on the status of their prescription or out of pocket
costs in their upcoming shipments.
• Perform account adjustments, method of payment, banking and unbilled
reconciliations
• Verify insurance data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to
billing including analyzing and verifying dates of service, quantity, day supply
and billed amounts.
• Research missing and incomplete information resulting in billing errors and
denials
• Complete prior authorizations with attention to detail and accuracy, prior to
sending
to the prescriber or Cover My Meds
• Transfer calls, tickets, claims, or shipments to the pharmacist when necessary
• Accept customer and prescription information required to process new and
refill prescriptions, including refill authorization from doctor offices where
permitted by state law
• Collect, organize, and evaluate patient information, while maintaining
confidentiality of all information received.
• Receive and transcribe English-language prescriptions sent electronically from
doctors’ offices and external pharmacies.
• Communicate with providers to obtain new written English-language
prescriptions or refill requests and verify that the information is complete and
accurate.
• Ensure compliance with all company procedures, federal/state laws, rules and
regulations
• Increasing knowledge and understanding of commonly prescribed medications and
their uses.
• Collaborate with other members of the pharmacy team to maintain customer
satisfaction
• Perform other tasks assigned while working in a fast paced environment
Requirements
• Active and
unrestricted in-State Board of Pharmacy License (This includes Pharmacy
Technician, Trainee, and Assistant Licenses). Additional licenses may be
required if domicile state differs from state of employment.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA)
• High school or equivalent diploma
• 6+ months of experience working with computer and web based tools
• Experience multitasking with phone and computer skills
• During shifts last up to 12 hours (standard full-time shifts are 10 hours
excluding overtime, flex and part-time
shifts may vary):
Standing, bending, reaching above the head, kneeling, crouching and/or
stretching
Lifting and moving products up to 49 lbs in weight
Manual dexterity of hands and wrists

• 1+ year of phone or customer service experience
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
• Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Experience navigating and troubleshooting technical issues
• 6+ months of experience working in a pharmacy related role
• Experience recognizing and identifying patient medications
• Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while
consistently meeting standards for productivity and quality
