Job Responsibilities

As a Data Center Technician at blithequark, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, servicing, and maintaining blithequark's IT infrastructure in a 24/7 environment with rapidly moving priorities while maintaining high availability of the infrastructure
  • Working with physical IT infrastructure components, including servers, network devices, and storage systems
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues using diagnostic tools and firmware updates
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations and resolve complex technical issues
  • Creating and updating technical documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity
  • Ensuring compliance with government regulatory requirements, OSHA, EHS, and other similar programs
  • Working with network protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
  • Using Linux command line scripts to automate tasks and troubleshoot issues
  • Troubleshooting optical connectivity problems and using tools such as cable analyzers, smart network testers, and OTDRs
  • Installing in-cabinet, uplink, and based cabling solutions
  • Working with network architecture design and installation
  • Collaborating with internal clients and vendors to ensure effective communication and issue resolution

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience supporting IT devices or related IT experience
  • A working understanding of physical IT infrastructure components
  • Experience working with macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems
  • Experience running diagnostics and firmware updates to resolve hardware and software issues
  • Experience working with network protocols and concepts
  • Experience with Linux command line scripts
  • Experience troubleshooting optical connectivity problems
  • Experience using cable analyzers, smart network testers, and OTDRs
  • Experience using incident/change request applications
  • Experience using network and data center planning tools
  • Ability to create and update technical documentation
  • Ability to work at heights, lift heavy equipment, and perform other physically demanding tasks
  • A valid driver's license and ability to work non-business hours, including weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Technical certifications such as BICSI Installer I, Server+, Linux+, Network+, ITIL, or equivalent
  • A degree in computer science or a related field
  • Experience working in a data center environment
  • Experience with data center inventory and asset management
  • Experience with webpage data center physical infrastructure deployment
  • Experience with parts replacement and physical hardware troubleshooting
