BIOLOGIST PROGRAM MANAGER/ WILDLIFE - STATEWIDE
This position is managerial position that receives broad supervision from the Biologist Director and Biologist Administrator of the Wildlife Division. The incumbent serves as a high level advisor to the Wildlife Division administrative staff as well as to the Assistant Secretary of Wildlife on matters pertaining to the Wildlife Management Areas and Private Lands Programs.
A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus seven years of experience in wildlife or fisheries, forestry, or environmental science; OR
A non-thesis master's degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus six years of the required specialized experience; OR
A master's degree with a completed thesis or a doctorate in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus five years of the required specialized experience.
JOB DUTIES
Some of the duties for this position may include the following:
- Administer the Private Lands Program in a portion of the State of Louisiana.
- Administer the WMA Program in a portion of the State of Louisiana focusing on wildlife habitat management, rehabilitation and maintenance of infrastructure.
- Directly supervise 3 Biologist Managers, indirectly supervise 30 other staff members.
POSITION- SPECIFIC DETAILS:
This is a statewide position and the domicile will be determined when candidate is selected.
Appointment Type: Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty.
If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available. Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
