Role Description
We are looking for a Web Developer to oversee the design, creation, and maintenance of websites tailored to client needs. The position is part-time contract and remote.
• Develop and oversee the design and functionality of client websites to ensure optimal user experience
• Design or supervise the creation of graphics, banners, charts, and other visual elements to enhance website aesthetics
• Plan, test, edit, and maintain websites based on client requirements and industry best practices
• Conduct interviews with clients to understand their goals and vision for their websites
• Educate clients on Internet communication strategies, marketing, and public relations techniques
• Create customized plans for websites using a mix of graphic and written materials, modifying proposals until client satisfaction is achieved
• Select and register domain names for clients
• Develop web architectural design (on-premise vs cloud) and related documentation
• Translate project specifications into detailed instructions and code for website implementation
• Test websites and programs, troubleshoot errors, and make corrections to ensure smooth functionality
• Ensure website databases are designed and managed according to best practices
• Collaborate with clients to ensure their websites meet ADA standards and promote accessibility for all users
• Educate clients on ADA compliance requirements and best practices for accessible design
• Incorporate accessibility features into client websites, including text alternatives for images, keyboard navigation, readable content, and proper color contrast
• Conduct audits and testing to identify and resolve accessibility barriers in client websites
• Provide recommendations and solutions for improving accessibility during client engagements
• Write, edit, and format content to effectively convey the client’s message
• Develop video and audio enhancements as requested by clients
• Update and expand website information to attract and retain users
• Provide ongoing support and solutions for operating issues with client websites
Qualifications
• Proven experience in website design, programming, and development
• Expertise in graphic design tools and software
• Knowledge of ADA compliance standards and accessibility best practices in web design
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with clients and internal teams
• Familiarity with database design, management systems, and coding languages including .NET, HTML5, CSS3, ARIA, WCAG, and GitHub
• Ability to write clear documentation for clients and provide training when needed
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Requirements
• Local government website experience (preferred)
• Web platform exposure with Kentico (preferred)
