Account Payable Specialist

As an Accounts Payable Specialist at D.S. Murphy, you will be an integral part of our finance and accounting team. The specialist will manage the processing of outgoing payments, organize and verify invoices, and ensure timely and accurate processing of all payables. You are expected to update and maintain vendor files, maintain financial confidentiality and conduct the overall company payment cycle activities in an efficient and timely manner. Responsibilities • Revise invoice and check requests for proper documentation and ensure that all items are accurately coded. • Manage weekly payments, check the accuracy of details and resolve any inconsistencies. • Perform vendor reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and liaise with vendors and employees to resolve payment terms and pricing queries. • Ensure that transactions posted reflect company procedures. • Maintain and document payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files. • Assist in monthly closings, respond to financial questions through an understanding of the ledger systems and financial reports. Qualifications • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field is required. • At least two years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting. • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong skills in Microsoft Excel. • Experience with general ledger software, knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Strong problem-solving skills, data analysis and the ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures. • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
