Role Overview and Responsibilities

As a Senior Outreach Specialist at blithequark, you will play a critical role in our fast-paced contact center environment, screening health plan members to determine eligibility for Social Security benefits and/or supplemental Nutritional Assistance for families in need. You will utilize a similar system tool as Social Security to assess eligibility and provide a high level of customer service and support to those who meet specific criteria. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Making outbound and receiving inbound calls with the intent of promoting blithequark's services, with 90% of your time spent on phone-based activities
  • Interviewing patients/members via phone to gather personal and sensitive information in order to determine eligibility for various government programs
  • Utilizing blithequark's systems to ensure appropriate questions are asked and interpreting and explaining information such as eligibility requirements and application details
  • Using probing questions to clarify eligibility data with patients or members and compiling, recording, and evaluating personal and financial data to determine eligibility
  • Ensuring the safety and confidentiality of data and systems by adhering to blithequark's information security policies and completing all annual security and compliance training

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a customer service/call center environment, with a strong focus on providing exceptional service and support to patients and members
  • Excellent phone skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and members
  • Strong data entry skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions
  • Ability to manage difficult people and situations, with a calm and professional demeanor
  • Ability to be assertive and proactive in your approach, with a strong focus on achieving results and meeting goals
  • Ability to actively listen and show compassion, with a genuine interest in helping patients and members navigate the healthcare system
  • Experience working remotely, with a private, quiet office/working space and reliable internet connection
  • Associate's Degree preferred, with a strong educational foundation in a related field

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare-related field, with a strong understanding of government programs and eligibility requirements
  • Knowledge of Social Security benefits and/or supplemental Nutritional Assistance programs, with experience navigating these systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with patients, members, and colleagues
