About the Role: Data Engineer (L4) - Privacy This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about data privacy and security. As a Data Engineer on our Privacy team, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable data management and extraction frameworks that underpin our commitment to data protection and privacy. You'll work with various data technologies to develop fast, scalable, and efficient data pipelines, write ETL jobs to collect and aggregate data, and construct high-quality data frameworks that enable appropriate treatment of customer personal data. Key Responsibilities Design and engineer efficient, scalable, and flexible data pipelines to handle structured and unstructured data Develop a deep understanding of the data ecosystem at Netflix from a privacy focus Collaborate with the privacy engineering teams to understand product objectives and provide data that enables us to respond to customer and regulatory data requests Maintain and reassess existing datasets and pipelines to ensure they remain relevant and effective Work with a talented team of data engineers who are committed to enhancing our data privacy practices and mitigating legal and regulatory risk Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need: A strong passion for consumer-driven data privacy and risk mitigation Proficiency in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala, with a minimum of 2 years of programming/data engineering experience Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to work with complex data sets Experience in designing data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Voila, Flash, Flink) on medium to large-scale datasets A proven ability to take requirements and implement scalable data models and pipelines A commitment to excellence, with a willingness to learn new technologies and grow your career Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following skills and experience will be highly regarded: Experience working in a cloud-based environment, such as AWS or GCP Knowledge of data security and compliance frameworks, such as GDPR or CCPA Familiarity with data engineering tools and technologies, such as Apache Beam or Spark A strong understanding of data architecture and data governance principles Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams A strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements, with a flexible and agile mindset Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Netflix, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop their careers.
