Senior Patent Agent/Scientific Advisor (In-House)
Location: This position may be performed remotely with travel to the Boston area as needed.
Position Summary
Praxis Precision Medicines is looking for a skilled, energetic, and meticulous Senior Patent Agent/Scientific Advisor to provide IP support and counseling across its many clinical and pre-clinical programs. We are seeking someone with a strong background in chemistry or a closely related field. Your expertise in chemistry means you are able to analyze and interpret pharmaceutical patent applications and devise appropriate claim strategies accordingly. In this pivotal role, you will work with internal stakeholders to advance the growth of our IP portfolio. You will also collaborate with outside counsel to ensure the broadest range of patent coverage. The successful candidate will join a dedicated IP department that manages a world-class patent portfolio. Primary Responsibilities
• Provide support (and lead as needed) patent prosecution for multiple international IP portfolios
• Analyze scientific references and advise regarding claim strategy
• Track internal programs and developments, gather data, and advance portfolio growth
• Collaborate with outside counsel in ensuring maximization of patent coverage
• Review planned publications and disclosures
• Support diligence and litigation
Qualifications and Key Success Factors
• Degree in chemistry, pharmacology, or similar; PhD preferred
• USPTO Registration
• Law firm and/or in-house experience
• Ability to think strategically and operate within an agile company and team framework. Must possess a "roll up your sleeves" attitude and be able to work seamlessly across the organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated understanding of scientific concepts and ability to translate technical language into laymen's terms.
