Job Summary
We're looking for an experienced Technical Lead II to join our Backend Live Chat team. As a Technical Lead II, you'll be responsible for leading a small team of engineers, providing technical guidance, and overseeing the development of new features to improve time-to-value. You'll work closely with our product, design, and engineering teams to establish compelling goals, address cross-team issues, and ensure the overall quality and reliability of our product.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small team of engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to help them grow in their careers
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to establish relevant, compelling, and challenging goals
- Actively work with other Technical Leads to address and resolve cross-team issues
- Take proactive ownership of the team's on-call health, product reliability, and overall quality
- Participate in the technical execution and delivery of new features to improve time-to-value
- Unify separate systems into a cohesive chat experience
- Explore generative AI opportunities to help our customers move fast
- Make use of industry-leading 3rd party tools as well as robust home-grown infrastructure powering the blithequark Engineering organization
- Build and scale a robust data infrastructure that serves the entire organization
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need to be a strong senior engineer with experience leading small teams. You should have a passion for writing code and reading code, as well as a desire to foster an environment that encourages autonomy and psychological safety. You'll also need to be committed to the growth of team members, enabling them to take on increasingly complex tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java 11, RESTful APIs, and the Dropwizard framework
- Familiarity with Kafka and other performant technologies
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including design patterns, testing, and deployment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $191,100 - $305,800 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
