CPA / Accountant – Quarterly California Sales Tax Filings

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled CPA or Accountant to manage quarterly California sales tax filings and support various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in tax compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements, with a focus on California state tax regulations. Duties • Prepare and file California Sales & Use Tax returns quarterly for two companies. • Review sales reports and reconcile taxable vs. non-taxable revenue. • Ensure compliance with CDTFA regulations and deadlines. • Maintain accurate documentation and provide clear communication regarding filings. • Advise on any sales tax–related questions or compliance updates as needed. • Assist with general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records. • Support financial statement preparation, analysis, and interpretation to inform management decisions. • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed. • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks for bookkeeping and financial management. • Maintain detailed documentation of tax filings, financial reports, and compliance activities. Requirements • Active CPA license or 3+ years of professional accounting/tax experience. • Strong understanding of California sales tax law and CDTFA e-filing system. • Experience working with e-commerce or product-based businesses is a plus. • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently. • Strong communication and reliability—must meet all deadlines consistently.
