Remote Medical Records Clerk- Must Live in IL - 5 Month Contract

Position: Medical Record Review Staff (HEDIS Project Support)Description:Staff will work under the supervision of the HEDIS Coordinator as a member of the medical record review team. The team is responsible for obtaining and performing accurate, comprehensive reviews of medical records in support of The HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) project. Reviews must be completed in accordance with NCQA guidelines and technical specifications.Job Requirements:- 7+ years of experience- High School Diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant preferred.- Strong customer service skills.- Experience with data entry and/or typing.- PC proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.- Knowledge of medical terminology is helpful.Duties and Responsibilities:- Obtain medical record data from the PO Box and distribute for scanning purposes.- Scan all paper documents obtained via mail or fax.- Identify the member associated with the record and assign to the appropriate HEDIS measure.- Label documents as directed and place them in the appropriate measure file.- Utilize various software applications to support HEDIS operations by accurately entering data and/or changing the chase status of medical records.- Meet with the HEDIS Coordinator and/or QI Specialists to discuss HEDIS efforts, review open issues, and include Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) results.- Advise the appropriate staff person of incoming medical record data.- May be directed to call provider offices to follow up on requested medical records.- Route all complex issues to the Quality Improvement Specialists/HEDIS Coordinator.- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.- Perform all other duties as assigned.
