[Remote] People Operations Specialist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Roofr is a customer-focused startup that specializes in CRM solutions for the roofing industry. They are seeking a detail-oriented People Operations Specialist to manage employee lifecycle operations and ensure a seamless employee experience as the company scales.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute employee lifecycle operations, including onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and internal transfers
- Take full ownership of HR administrative workflows, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all employee data and documentation
- Independently manage background checks, employment verifications, and compliance requirements with strong attention to detail
- Support benefits administration, acting as a reliable point of contact for employee questions and changes
- Prepare and audit data for payroll, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Maintain and improve HRIS and People systems, ensuring data integrity and scalable processes
- Partner cross-functionally with Talent, Finance, IT, and Legal, driving issues to resolution with minimal oversight
- Own policy acknowledgements, documentation tracking, and audit readiness end-to-end
- Support people programs, engagement initiatives, and internal communications
- Identify gaps, document processes, and proactively recommend improvements to help People Ops scale efficiently
Skills
- 1–3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Administration, or HR Coordination
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment
- Exceptionally detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities independently
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability — you see work through from start to finish
- Ability to work with autonomy, making sound decisions and escalating thoughtfully when needed
- A proactive mindset with a natural sense of urgency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Experience working cross-functionally with employees and leaders at all levels
- Experience supporting international employees or contractors
- Familiarity with multi-region employment compliance
- Experience with benefits or payroll administration
- Interest in growing into a broader People Ops Generalist or Specialist role
