<p>Site Safety & Health Specialist - HV Substation Project<br/>Location: Ipswitch<br/>Rate: Competitive day rate<br/>Contract Type: Full-time, site-based, contract<br/>Duration: 6-month contract (with high potential for extension)<br/>Hours: 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday)</p></br><p>MRR Infrastructure is recruiting on behalf of a globally recognised engineering and construction consultancy known for delivering high-profile energy infrastructure projects across the UK. Their approach is grounded in safety, compliance and operational excellence, particularly within high-voltage transmission environments.</p></br><p>We are currently seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Specialist to join a large substation construction project. This is a key position supporting the safe and effective delivery of works across the site and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.</p></br><h2>Role Overview</h2></br><p>Reporting to the UK Health & Safety Manager and supporting the site management team, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining all project-specific safety procedures, conducting audits and inspections, and ensuring full compliance with CDM regulations and SHE policies. Prior experience working within live or new-build HV substation environments is highly desirable.</p></br><h2>Key Responsibilities</h2></br><ul></br> <li>Implement and uphold SHE policies, procedures and statutory regulations across site activities</li></br> <li>Champion a \"Safety First\" culture and support safe systems of work from design through to delivery</li></br> <li>Assist in the development and continual improvement of project-specific Health & Safety plans</li></br> <li>Lead data collection and reporting for SHE KPIs, including client-specific metrics</li></br> <li>Conduct audits, inspections and assurance reviews to drive safety performance</li></br> <li>Oversee the preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements</li></br> <li>Support the investigation and root cause analysis of incidents, near misses and non-conformances</li></br> <li>Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings to operatives and staff</li></br> <li>Engage with clients, local authorities, subcontractors and enforcement bodies as required</li></br> <li>Support action tracking and close-out of audit findings and improvement plans</li></br> <li>Deputise for the Environmental Advisor when required</li></br> <li>Promote innovation and capture safety best practices for continuous improvement</li></br> <li>Support onboarding of personnel, verifying competence and authorisations</li></br></ul></br><h2>Essential Requirements</h2></br><ul></br> <li>Demonstrable experience in a safety role on major infrastructure or energy projects</li></br> <li>Solid understanding of CDM Regulations and current UK SHE legislation</li></br> <li>Experience working within live or new-build HV substations</li></br> <li>Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills</li></br> <li>Proven ability to produce high-quality reports and audit documentation</li></br> <li>Proactive, self-motivated and able to lead by example</li></br></ul></br><h2>Desirable</h2></br><ul></br> <li>NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate</li></br> <li>Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional body</li></br> <li>Incident investigation and root cause analysis training</li></br> <li>Familiarity with National Grid T&D frameworks</li></br> <li>Temporary Works or Permit Systems experience</li></br></ul> #J-18808-Ljbffr
