Optics & Vision Science Advisor (Part-Time, Advisory)
About the Company
We are building next-generation smart glasses focused on comfort, clarity, and real-world usability. Our approach is intentionally lean: we prioritize strong fundamentals, thoughtful design, and early technical validation before scaling.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Optics & Vision Science Advisor to provide early-stage guidance on optical feasibility and user comfort for our smart glasses platform.
This is a light-touch advisory role, focused on reviewing and de-risking optical assumptions—not executing day-to-day design work.
What You’ll Do
Review and sanity-check early optical concepts and assumptions
Advise on display architecture (e.g., waveguide, birdbath, microdisplay tradeoffs)
Provide guidance on:
Field of View (FOV)
Eyebox and pupil swim considerations
Optical stack thickness vs. industrial design constraints
Vision comfort, fatigue, and usability risks
Flag physics-based or human-factors risks early
Provide written feedback and participate in occasional short review calls
What This Role Is Not
❌ Not a full-time role
❌ No CAD, modeling, or execution work
❌ No vendor sourcing or manufacturing ownership
❌ No people management or roadmap authority
This role exists to inform decisions, not to own them.
Time Commitment
~1–2 hours per month
Primarily asynchronous
Occasional 30-minute check-in calls as needed
Ideal Background
Experience in:
Near-eye display systems
AR/VR optics or waveguide technology
Vision science or human factors for optical systems
Background as an optics engineer, vision scientist, or senior individual contributor
Comfortable advising early-stage teams without heavy process
Compensation
Equity-based advisory grant (~0.25%)
Vesting over 24 months, participation-based
Fixed advisory term with flexibility
(Cash stipends may be discussed for limited reviews if preferred.)
Why This Role Matters
Optical decisions made early are expensive to undo later. This advisory role ensures we build on solid optical fundamentals while keeping the team lean and focused.
How to Engage
If this sounds aligned, we’d love to start with a short intro conversation and a limited review session to assess mutual fit. Email: tyara@tgreon.com
