100% Travel MCE Technician - Mid West US
Vestas is a global leader in renewable energy solutions, specifically in wind energy. They are seeking a Major Component Exchange/Repair Technician who will be responsible for specialized wind turbine repair and optimization while traveling extensively across the Midwest region to ensure peak turbine performance.
Responsibilities
- The most critical factor is ensuring safety for everyone involved. This includes Risk Assessment; Identify potential hazards before starting. Protective Measures: Use appropriate gear, follow protocols, and maintain a safe environment. Compliance; Adhere to safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents
- Perform major component exchanges including gearboxes, generators, and other critical systems
- Execute maintenance, minor to medium repairs, design modifications, retrofits, and special projects – all following established procedures
- Travel extensively to support turbine operations across multiple platforms and site conditions
- Collaborate with teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure a secure working environment
- This role offers exposure to a wide range of turbine platforms, site conditions, and team environments—ideal for technicians who thrive on variety and continuous learning
Skills
- Prioritize safety above all else. You understand and follow established safety protocols, proactively identify potential hazards, and take immediate action to prevent incidents. Your commitment ensures a secure environment for yourself, your team, and the community
- Minimum one year of wind technician experience, or six months wind technician experience with a Wind Technician certificate/education, or 2 years of transferrable mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and executing major repairs on various platforms
- Comfortable with 100% travel and working in varied site conditions
- A collaborative technician who thrives on solving complex challenges
- Physically fit, comfortable working in various conditions, and at heights
- Ability to speak, read and follow instructions in English
- You have a high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid driver's license, and are legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Preferred wind turbine experience with hands-on MCE work
