Key Responsibilities

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Investigating and resolving daily database and application issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Playing a key role in the documentation of existing systems and procedures, contributing to the development of best practices and standards for database management.
  • Assisting in the design, implementation, and support of norms and procedures for monitoring, scope management, maintenance, backups, and recovery of database systems.
  • Supporting multiple databases in development, staging, and production environments across local and remote server farms.
  • Configuring and maintaining high-availability solutions for SQL Server, including clustering, replication, and mirroring.
  • Collaborating with application teams to resolve database issues and improve overall system efficiency.
  • Installing server-based application software in collaboration with system administrators.
  • Installing, managing, and updating new software, patches, and fixes to ensure the security and integrity of our database systems.
  • Developing and implementing best practices for stored procedures, triggers, packages, tables, and views to optimize database performance.
  • Designing and maintaining enterprise ETL processes using various ETL tools, including SSIS, .NET scripting, and T-SQL.
  • Completing database maintenance tasks and generating system reports to inform strategic decisions.
  • Creating and implementing security models to protect our database systems and associated applications.
  • Participating in application development cycles to facilitate good database design and access practices.
  • Planning, preparing, and testing backup and recovery procedures for all production databases to ensure business continuity.
  • Monitoring databases for efficiency and periodically upgrading databases for optimal performance during scheduled downtime.
  • Creating indexes and adjusting tuning parameters as needed to enhance performance.
  • Estimating volumetric requirements to predict new database sizes and planning accordingly for growth.
  • Communicating plans to system administrators and other stakeholders.
  • Being responsible for the security of database systems and all business/logical applications associated with them.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge of client-server technology and working experience with SQL Server.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a SQL DBA in enterprise, multi-site SQL Server environments.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with SSIS and T-SQL.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness and proven ability to provide the highest level of customer support.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Technologies and migrating databases into cloud environments.
  • Experience with Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Experience with .NET scripting (C# or VB.NET) and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience in the automotive industry or CRM systems.
  • Strong mathematical and algebraic skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve applications that interface with databases.
