Junior Systems Engineer - AJISS
Thales is a global leader in aerospace, transportation, defence, security, and space. They are seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to support the Royal Canadian Navy through Engineering Change projects, involving design, integration, and testing of naval systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop the preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements
- Identify, characterize, and analyze issues in the system or its design through problem reports and document and design reviews
- Provide timely and accurate status updates
- Assess the impact of planned changes on the existing system
- Author or review technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including the architecture, interfaces, and installation elements
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the designs are consistent with needs, desires, and concerns of the end-users
- Support the development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures
- Collaborate with other functions during the implementation and integration of the system and subsystem designs
- Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements; and/or
- Support the installation and/or integration testing of the systems remotely or on customer site
- Conduct research on Naval Systems, System Requirements, Standards, and new technologies
- Generate, describe, and recommend solutions to customer concerns as part of the option analysis process
- Produce engineering artefacts including (but not limited to) first principles drawings and system schematics, Statements of Work, System Requirements Documents (SRD), Impact Analyses, and technical reports
- Survey and analysis of shipboard systems
- Planning, authoring, and executing integration and acceptance tests; and
- Coordinating and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary dispersed team
Skills
- University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline
- Ability to obtain clearances as specified under the Regulatory Compliance section
- Any kind of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems or software would be an asset
