Freelance Publishing Production & Pricing Consultant
I’m looking for an experienced publishing professional to support pricing strategy, print/distribution setup, and backend publishing configuration for select book projects.
This is a small-scope, expert role focused on setting up publishing correctly — not running my business, not managing clients end-to-end, and not general VA work.
Scope of work may include:
• Book pricing strategy (print, ebook, hardcover, special editions)
• Publishing setup and configuration on platforms such as KDP and IngramSpark
(including print options, trim sizes, pricing inputs, distribution selections)
• Advising on and configuring print cost/margin–optimized setups
• Supporting Amazon metadata setup (titles, descriptions, BISAC categories, keywords) as needed
• Advising on or reviewing Amazon A+ content from a conversion and positioning standpoint
• Documenting decisions and setup details in shared Google Docs
Notes on scope:
• Work is project-based and sporadic to start (typically ~5–10 hours per project)
• You will not manage clients or take ownership of business operations
• U.S.-based candidates only
About the Work
I work with authors creating nonfiction, thought-leadership, and legacy-driven books, including business, personal development, and narrative-driven projects. My focus is on high-quality, strategically positioned books rather than mass-market or trend-driven publishing.
Projects may include both first-time authors and experienced writers, as well as occasional collaborative or multi-author books, fiction or children's books. A strong understanding of positioning, perceived value, and long-term distribution strategy is important.
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in U.S. publishing production and distribution who enjoys focused, high-impact work and clear boundaries.
