Senior Nursing Director - Nursing Informatics

Overview University of Utah Health is seeking a new Senior Nursing Director to lead Nursing Informatics. In support of the organization's goals and mission, the incumbent supports the Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Ambulatory Services in leading Nursing Informatics across the University of Utah Health system of Hospitals and Clinics. This position directs the human resources, customer/patient services, and financial management for their assigned nursing areas. The Senior Director Nursing works directly with nurse managers to ensure patient safety and quality of care are provided. The incumbent also acts as a catalyst between departments, faculty, physicians and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law. Building Relationships • Forms positive relationships with staff, peers, and senior leadership to support the mission, vision, values, and performance standards of the organization. • Actively engages staff with updates and news as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams. Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. • Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills. • Ability to determine the appropriate staff mixes to support patient and customer needs. • Knowledge of hospital business operations and demonstrated strategic planning skills. • Knowledge of budgeting practices, reporting analysis, and forecasting.
