Privacy Officer

Position Title: Privacy Officer Location: Vancouver, BC Overview: Charter is currently seeking an experienced Privacy Officer to join our team for a project starting July 2025. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience providing guidance with: privacy advisory, privacy risk mitigation, managing PIAs, and delivering privacy compliance initiatives under FOIPPA. This position requires strong critical thinking and an analytical approach to assessing context, conducting PIAs and developing informed, actionable recommendations for sound decision making and approvals that support compliance and organizational strategic objectives. This is a 6 month project with extensions (until the project is complete). Location: Vancouver, BC. *Must reside in Canada for the duration of the project. * Qualifications and Experience: • 10+ years of experience in a Privacy Officer role or equivalent, providing guidance with privacy advisory, privacy risk mitigation, managing PIAs, and delivering privacy compliance initiatives under FOIPPA. • Experience with FOIPPA and the integration of privacy-by-design principles into project management, risk management, procurement, system design, and system development. • Previous experience assessing privacy risks, development of PIAs, and delivering informed recommendations that shape project decisions. • Previous experience providing oversight of external consultants, direct execution of privacy activities, and collaboration across multi-departments to embed privacy best practices • Preparation of/delivering regular status/progress reports. • Detailed documentation: tracking/organization of privacy documents for PIAs, risk logs, and consultant deliverables to support traceability, oversight and compliance across all active initiatives. • Certifications: relevant industry certifications (expiry dates to be provided) • Excellent communication (written and verbal) in English is required. • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
