JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Engagement partner, the Tax consultant manages the relationship with the client and manages the staff level team. They oversee assigned clients' company's tax data and compliance by maintaining accurate records. They will perform tasks such as tax preparation and review, oversight of tax team, review and update of tax software, review and update of department policies and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tax Consultant is accountable for the following key responsibilities:
• Expert in 1040, 1120, 1120S, 990 annual filing
• Tax planning
• Overseeing the tax staff
• Ensuring compliance with tax and accounting regulations
• Preparing and managing projections
• Managing tax financial reports and workpapers, such as fixed asset schedule
• Overseeing and assisting with the preparation for tax returns
• Monitors, reviews and verifies tax records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness and adequacy of supporting documentation.
• Analyzes reports for accuracy prior to distribution and provide tax data with explanations and interpretation as requested.
• Provides direction and input for the development of accounting procedures, applications, reports, forms, and records. Recommends changes to improve systems and procedures, initiates corrective actions.
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Protects an organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Effectively meet agreed-upon tax completion timelines, while also participating in other organizational initiatives.
• Maintain professional proficiency via continuing professional education, participating in professional associations, while staying abreast of leading practices, industry trends, and emerging risks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
TYPE OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a business related field with a concentration in accounting from a regionally accredited US college or university.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience with a public accounting firm
• Licensed CPA
• Experience with training and supervising employees
• Proven working experience as a Tax Manager , Tax Supervisor or Finance Manager in public accounting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Drake and Ultratax experience a plus
• Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures.
• Working knowledge and experience with Quickbooks Online, Google Suite, Google Meet
• Working knowledge and experience of Ultratax
• Commitment to high ethical and professional standards.
• High degree of personal integrity and sound judgment.
• Must be comfortable with technology and adept at maximizing its benefits.
• Ability to improve processes and utilize technology to enhance productivity, reduce errors, and mitigate risks.
• Experience working remotely a plus
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
• Proven experience in tax planning and projections
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
