Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician will work on service assignments for industrial packaging and liquid filling equipment, providing support to both the shop floor and field service teams.
Responsibilities
- Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to implement, repair, assemble, disassemble, and validate controls on filling equipment
- Program, install, calibrate, test, diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on electrical controls systems and components for industrial equipment, including servos, RTD’s (resistance temperature detectors) and pneumatic devices
- Build and wire electrical panels to prints
- Troubleshoot, problem-solve, modify, and implement controls systems for field-deployed filling equipment, conducting unit replacement, electrical wiring, PLC programming and managing upgrades
- Correct and redline electrical schematics
- Directly interact with Engineering/Equipment department, Business Development department, clients, and upper management to plan deployments, resolve problems, manage expectations, and communicate status
- Advise Engineering regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements
- Prepare, forward, and maintain rigorous and accurate reports of system failure, service history, and equipment conditions
- Comply with organization’s standard operating procedures
- Indirectly supervise support staff and outside contractors as needed
- Communicate and manage vendor relationships
- Assist field service with troubleshooting, refurbishments and training during high demand periods
Skills
- 2-year technical or Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
- At least one year of troubleshooting experience with servo programming, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and pneumatic machinery required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
- Able to travel 10% or more throughout North America
- Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required
- Able to work around customers' production and maintenance schedules
- Able to travel internationally on rare occasions
- Allen-Bradley (or equivalent) PLC programming experience
