[Remote] Research Scientist Intern, Smart Glasses in Wearables AI (PhD)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Meta is a leading technology company focused on connecting people and creating immersive experiences. The Wearables AI team is seeking a Research Scientist Intern to advance AI technologies, develop algorithms, and contribute to product development through innovative research.
Responsibilities
- Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines
- Develop novel and accurate NLP algorithms and systems, leveraging Deep Learning and Machine Learning on big data resources
- Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners including communicating research plans, progress, and results
- Publish research results and contribute to research that can be applied to Meta product development
Skills
- Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Multi-modal Systems, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Speech Recognition, Audio Processing, Conversational AI, or other relevant technical field
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Experience with Python, C++, C, Java or other related languages
- Experience building systems with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow
- A strong interest in theoretical and empirical research and for answering difficult questions with research
- Experience in at least one ML/AI area such as Natural Language Processing (Translation, Summarization, Dialog, NER, etc), Speech and Audio Understanding (Recognition, Synthesis, Signal Processing), Computer Vision (Image or Video Analysis), Multi-modal (image, video, audio, text, etc) Reasoning & Retrieval, Reinforcement Learning, Search and Recommendations
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EACL, NeurIPS, ICLR, AAAI, RecSys, KDD, IJCAI, CVPR, ECCV, ICASSP, or similar
- Ability to stay in touch with the literature of a particular domain and ability to quickly reproduce results, if needed
- Demonstrated software engineering experience via a previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub)
- Experience with the utilization of enterprise level AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning/ LLM platforms involving big data management and GPU compute
- Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment
