[Remote] Early Career Trial Attorney (Remote - Hudson Valley / Westchester County, NY)

They are seeking an Early Career Trial Attorney to manage insurance defense litigation and provide legal counsel while ensuring compliance with new laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents
- Interview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication records
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work
Skills
- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents
- Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines
- Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process
- Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions
- Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct
- Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions
- Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout the Hudson Valley, Westchester County, Rockland County, and Putnam County areas in New York
