[Remote] Machine Learning Engineering Intern - Ads Marketplace, PhD (Summer 2026)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Reddit, Inc. is seeking Machine Learning Engineering interns for their Ads Marketplace team as part of their Emerging Talent program. The role involves working on impactful projects, gaining exposure to engineering practices, and contributing to the development of ML engines for ad optimization.
Responsibilities
- Work on projects that impact the business
- You'll gain exposure to how a real engineering team works, from sprint planning to shipping code
- As a MLE intern you will also be exposed to scalable systems that handle the complexity and volume of Reddit’s vast user base and content
- Be mentored by experienced engineers from all backgrounds
- You'll work with engineers of many different experiences and levels
- You'll have a formal mentor on your team guiding you throughout the summer as well!
- Contribute to the betterment of Reddit, by building ML engines that power Reddit’s Ad Marketplace
- Whether that’s designing & improving ML models for targeting and recommendations, running large-scale experiments for improvement validations, or deploying and maintaining models for high-throughput production systems, MLEs in our Marketplace shape the future of ads optimization
Skills
- Actively working towards a PhD degree at an accredited university/college in Computer Science, Mathematics (or a related field)
- Graduating between December 2026 and June 2027, with less than 3 years of relevant professional work experience
- Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals (programming comes second nature)
- Strong foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts - experience training and evaluating models using pytorch, keras, tensorflow, or SOLR
- Experience working with databases, large scale data processing & pipeline orchestration with tools like Dataflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, BigQuery, and Ray
- Research experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Recommendation systems, Gen AI (LLMs)
- You're over the age of 18 and authorized to work in the United States
- Research publications at the top AI/ML conferences
- Experience with building production-level Machine learning models
- Previous internship experience or relevant work experience, particularly w/ social networks or open source projects
- A desire to work at either our Reddit HQ in San Francisco or remote during summer 2026
