Associate DevOps Engineer
CoBank is a cooperative bank serving vital industries across rural America, and they are seeking an Associate DevOps Engineer to support the engineering of automated solutions and enhance cloud-based services. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery while leveraging automation technologies in AWS and on-premises infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provides support for the engineering of automated solutions, including continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines; for the implementation of automated testing practices to ensure software quality; and for the monitoring and observability required to maintain robust systems
- Collaborates closely with senior engineers, product managers and cross-functional teams, to contribute to the delivery of cloud-based solutions that meet high standards of performance, security, and scalability
- Practices a variety of programming languages and tools, including Bash, Powershell, and Python for development. Work with container orchestration services such as ECS, Docker, and Kubernetes, and leverage a range of AWS tools
- Helps develop solutions that enhance quality, delivery speed, and efficiency, prioritizing automation technologies to improve customer and employee experiences
- Continues to develop a strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Learns to work with CI/CD pipelines and related tools to streamline software delivery
- Supports the resolution of production issues promptly, engaging IT and vendors as needed. Provides workday and after-hours support, including troubleshooting and problem correction
- Collaborates with program owners and business units to implement enhancements. Contributes to automation portfolios and participates in weekly discussions. Supports the implementation of best practices across the organization
- Continues to learn and implement new automation technologies by analyzing technical specifications, while adhering to security best practices
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems or a relevant discipline
- Prior knowledge of AWS Services: some proficiency in various AWS services such as EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, and others is essential for deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS Cloud
- Prior experience with DevOps Tools: Familiarity with popular DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform is necessary to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes
- Scripting and Programming: some proficiency in scripting languages like Python and Bash enables the creation of custom automation scripts and development of infrastructure-as-code solutions
- Networking Concepts: basic understanding of networking concepts, including VPC, subnets, security groups, load balancers, and VPNs, facilitates the design and implementation of reliable and scalable network architectures
- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are crucial to identify and resolve issues related to infrastructure, security, performance, or scalability, ensuring smooth operations and timely resolution of incidents
- Strong Communication Skills: In a technology transformation role, it is crucial to be able to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including team members, project managers, and clients. Clear and concise communication helps ensure everyone is on the same page and can contribute to the successful implementation of a cloud DevOps infrastructure
- Adaptability and Flexibility: The cloud technology landscape is constantly evolving, and a technology transformation role requires the ability to adapt and embrace change. Being open to new ideas, learning new tools and technologies, and being flexible in approach are important soft skills for success in an AWS Cloud DevOps Infrastructure Engineering job
- Some proficiency in Scripting Languages: Like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating infrastructure tasks
- Prior Experience with Cloud Computing Principles, with a focus on AWS services
- Prior Experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
- Any AWS/Azure/GCP Certification (developer, solution architect, networking, infrastructure)
