SRO Engineer - Nuclear Operations
Westinghouse Electric Company is an industry leader in nuclear power operations, and they are seeking an SRO Engineer to improve and define operational procedures for nuclear power plants. The role involves working with experienced professionals to validate control room scenarios and support utility reactor operators in their control rooms.
Responsibilities
- You will acquire knowledge about integrated plant operations to develop the way control room operators run plants with operating procedures
- You will then validate scenarios in control room simulators, before they are used to train reactor operators and implemented in plants worldwide
- You will work with professionals in the industry who will teach you the technical and professional aspects of working in the nuclear industry
- Your scope will include the operating fleet (integrating operating experience and new scenarios) and the next generation of nuclear plants (SMR and microreactors), giving you learning and development opportunities in both worlds
- You will also design new incore instrumentation, developing our testing equipment, completing test preparation and reporting
- In the field, you will support utility reactor operators by performing critical activities in their control rooms. We are looking for performance with for customer interactions, and the physical ability to handle test equipment
- You'll travel to customer sites around the world to perform testing (2 to 4 times a year and 5 to 15 days per trip) or for short fieldwork assignments
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.4
- Candidates with a Reactor Operator license at a university reactor are encouraged to apply
- US Citizen or permanent resident only
- Ability to obtain unescorted site access to customer sites which requires compliance with industry fitness-for-duty standards and participation in Westinghouse's behavioral observation program
