Research Assistant II
Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit organization committed to patient care, research, teaching, and community service. The Research Assistant II will support clinical studies and population-based research, manage data, and assist in the development of research proposals.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting
- Study cohort management
- Outreach communication with subjects, conducting mailings, follow-up on mailings, and obtaining necessary documents
- Assists with preparing progress reports with basic prescriptive statistics
- Gathers information to aid in the development of future research proposals
- Trains and orients new staff
- Administrative & Meeting Support
- Coordinate, submit and maintain weekly research team meeting calendar
- Prepare/distribute agendas and meeting minutes
- Track action items and deadlines and supervise completion with student research volunteers
- Coordinate onboarding/ Support onboarding processes for new research staff, including Epic access, credentials, and compliance training
- Serve as primary point of contact for troubleshooting
- Support student interns, including onboarding, training, and stipend management
- Draft and submit IRB protocols, amendments, continuing reviews via Insights website
- Design/revise informed consent forms and recruitment materials
- Maintain regulatory binders and communication with the IRB for each project
- Communicate with pathology, radiology, and clinical teams to coordinate prospective collections
- Coordinate, submit and maintain multi-institutional data use agreements/data transfer agreements legal/compliance department via Insight website
- Track expiration/renewal of all agreements
- Design and maintain REDCap databases
- Export cleaned datasets for statistical analysis and summary reporting
- Assist in drafting, reviewing and submitting manuscripts, tables, and figures for completed research projects
- Schedule/document student research meetings
- Multi-Institutional Liaison: Coordinate with affiliated institutions/divisions, maintain joint deliverables
- Multidisciplinary Liaison: Schedule/document cross-departmental planning (radiology, pathology, etc.)
- Industry-Sponsored Liaison: Coordinate with sponsors, track protocol milestones
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, or related health/life science field
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to track deadlines, action items, and deliverables
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including meeting coordination, agendas, and minutes
- Strong knowledge of IRB processes, human subjects research protections, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance
- Experience drafting and managing IRB protocols, consent forms, and recruitment materials
- Familiarity with Data Use Agreements (DUAs), Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs), and compliance systems (e.g., Insight/eIRB)
- Ability to draft, review, and support manuscript preparation (tables, figures, formatting)
- Proficiency with REDCap (database design, branching logic, data validation, exports)
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel – including pivot tables/charts, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Master's degree in public health (MPH), Health Administration (MHA), Clinical Research, Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, Nursing Science, or related discipline
- Knowledge of Stata, SPSS, R, or SAS
- Familiarity with reference management software (EndNote, Zotero, or Mendeley)
