Investment Accountant I - Real Estate

TIAA is a global investment leader managing public and private assets for clients worldwide. The Reporting & Investment Accountant I will assist in ensuring investment accounting policies are applied correctly, working with various teams to prepare month-end entries and financial analytics.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accounting analysis of various real estate holdings
  • Identifies, analyses and resolves variances generated by the reconciliation process
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including valuation adjustments for appraisals
  • Review of monthly reporting packages received from the property management company, including, but not limited to, communication with property management company accountants, performing analytics, raising issues found to management, etc
  • Supplying property information to valuations team each month for quarterly appraisals
  • Monthly/quarterly accounting responsibilities including, but not limited to, communication with property management company accountants, preparation of journal entries, preparation of account reconciliations, property workpapers, investor distributions, management fee calculations, etc
  • Close interaction with internal and external business partners, including auditors and tax preparers. Liaises with external auditors for the timely completion of audit procedures and the issuance of audited financial statements

Skills

  • No Experience Required
  • University (Degree)
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in an accounting role
  • Previous Real estate experience
  • BS/BA in accounting or finance
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Previous Experience with Adobe and/or Yardi
  • Excellent technical research, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to multi-task
